Works and blog of Eszter Hargittai

Eszter Hargittai's blog points to reactions to her most recent research - how young people in the U.S. are actually using blogs. Interesting - less politics than previously thought.

Now a big question for Eszter, given her research. What are the cultural preconditions for successful Internet (mostly Web) usage? A culture of contact with disaggregated information, a DIY approach to information (so you get the variables for the weather and build your own forecast, as opposed to looking at the sky, feeling the air, and unconsciously integrating this holistic set of information bits) is my hypothesis. This has a serious bearing on how the Internet is deployed and used in the developing world.
